JULIA, PETER McWILLIAMS ORGANIZATION
The late Peter McWilliams (1949-2000) self published over 40 self-help books (5 of them best-sellers) including "How to Survive the Loss of a Love" (co-writer), "You Can't Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought," and "Life 101". Peter was also a poet.
When he was later diagnosed with AIDS and Cancer, he discovered that cannabis helped with the myriad of complications from the chemotherapy, specifically the chronic nausea and waste away side effects that plagued him. “Nausea is an unsolved problem of medicine,” McWilliams declared publicly. “Marijuana is the finest anti-nausea medication known to science.” Peter told himself if he lived, he’d dedicate his life to getting medical cannabis to the masses. During the remainder of his life, he became an outspoken activist for the legalization of cannabis, and began to help fellow patients grow their own plants. The US government came to label him as a 'drug kingpin', and insisted he stop using cannabis or else his mother and brother would lose their homes. He took the plea agreement, stopped using cannabis, and sadly died at the age of 50. His spirit lives on through his written work.
In 2011, a young lady named Julia discovered his works. She was moved by his story and began online tributes to Peter. She tries to educate as many as she can about Peter's story and share his literature with the world. She is American who cares deeply for Canadians who have grown to love Peter's story and work. She's spoken at 'Treating Yourself Expo', 'Champs Expo', '420' in Toronto, and is honoured to be a part of Hempfest Toronto!
